HELPFUL LINKS

Research And Informative

  • Frommers – My wife’s favorite magazine, its website is also budget -oriented and reliable
  • Rick Steves – We love this guy and his cable special.  His guide books have good itineraries and useful hints but are not comprehensive and have poor maps

Colonia, Uruguay - a surprising mecca for old car enthusiasts

  • Lonely Planet – Great budget site and our favorite guide book series
  • Fodors – Good guide books (their sample itineraries are terrific) and helpful research site
  • TripAdvisor Top site for hotel reviews and useful, interactive travel forums.  We never book a hotel without consulting the TripAdvisor reviews first.  We’re regular contributors of reviews to this site and encourage others to write reviews as well because the more content, the more effective and accurate it is.
  • TimeOut – Great research site, especially good for event reviews and listings for large cities (especially London and NYC)

Reservations

  • Starwood Hotels– Our primary lodging away from home, and a top affinity credit card program with American Express.  Like other rewards programs, the more you stay with them the more rewards you gain and progress towards elite (Gold, etc) status.

We also use Google to research our destinations and Amazon to purchase travel guides.
